St Barnabas Church, Wellingborough
St Barnabas Church, a place of hospitality, where Jesus says, "You are welcome." This is our Mission Statement. We are an inclusive church where parents with little ones, young people and the young at heart (if not in years!) all feel welcomed and valued. We are located between St Barnabas and College Streets, north of the Northampton Road and south of Westfield Road. Our worship style is eclectic and includes elements from a number of traditions to suit the occasion.
Our main Sunday service of Holy Communion is at 10.00 a.m, with the second Sunday of the month being a non-Eucharistic All-Age Service with Church Parade. Said Communion is at 8.00 a.m. every Sunday and also at 10.00 a.m. on a Wednesday. Creche facilities are available in church. Evening Worship with hymns is held on the first and third Sundays of the month at 6.00 p.m. Morning Prayer is said at 9.00 a.m. on Mondays. St Barnabas CEVC Infants School and Freeman's Academy regularly hold services in church. Members of the congregation maintain a strong link with both schools.
We are a member of Churches Together in Wellingborough.
In the early church, Barnabas was known as the Encourager. We do all we can to support and encourage people on their journey of Christian discipleship through our pre-school group, Little Frogs, after school Leapfrog for those at primary school, and House Groups for adults.
As a church family we enjoy getting together for fun and fellowship. The Social Committee arrange an event every month; the Committee sponsors a free soup lunch every first Wednesday of the month.
In his letter to the Romans, St Paul implored them to "extend hospitality to strangers." This we are keen to do, so please pay us a visit - you will be made very welcome.
